I think this is as completely stupid as I think all “sin” taxes are. Government interference in our lives, to attempt to make us behave the way gov’t wants us to…

I am puzzled, though. In general, Republicans have been extremely averse to laws regulating parenting, also to taking people’s money in taxes.

Precisely why is this considered an exception by the gentleman from Illinois?

I’m not getting it either, SFZ. As you say, this would be an attempt to regulate parenting, individual behavior, and it would take people’s money in taxes.

Stupid idea. Of course, there are plenty of taxes right now that do all of those things. I’d like to see them all gone, but that isn’t going to happen. But we certainly do not need to add to the trend in any way, shape or form.
